William Shakespeare, the greatest writer in the
English language, was born in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 1564 and died
there amongst his family in 1616. The lovely English town of Stratford-Upon
Anov celebrates the memory of the renowned playwright.
It is approximately 2 hours' drive from London. You
will see:
- The Holy Trinity Church where William was baptised
and where he is buried amongst other members of his family
- The Birthplace Museum - an intimate insight into
the life of William's parents and his younger years
- The Royal Shakespeare Theatre and two smaller ones,
all devoted to Shakespeare's productions
- Hall's Croft, the home of Shakespeare'd daughter
and her husband, re-created as 17th century doctor's practice.
- Anne Hathaway's Cottage - the home of William's
wife's parents with original interiors and beautiful garden
- Spectacular Tudor houses with timber fronts and
thatched roofs
- Magnificent views of the River Avon and Clopton
bridge built in 15th century
- A quaint English town with incredible flower displays
and romantic views
